Yum............Sushi

The sushi belt.

Crab sushi, yum!
Salmon sushi, my favorite!
Karina and Lauren, my reliable and ever so helpful Asst. Volleyball Coaches. I couldn't have coached without your wonderful help.
There are many places in Japan to get sushi and my favorite places to go are the restaurants that have the conveyor belts that circulate around the restaurant and you just pull the sushi that you want from the belt. You can also order sushi from a waitress or you can order from one of the many sushi chefs located in the center of the conveyor belt and restaurant. Sometimes they have specials with steamed scallops or conch shells. They also offer chicken nuggets, french fries and fresh strawberries with whipped cream for dessert. They have fresh sea salt in rock form that the chefs will put on your sushi if asked. I haven't quite figured out how to communicate that yet.
They price the sushi by the color of the plate. It is a really fantastic system and I am surprised we don't have any sushi restaurants like this in the States. Even after all of the sushi I have tried here in Japan, my favorite is still, the spicy tuna roll in Cabo at Cascadas de Baja. I dream of it, I was so.... looking forward to it this summer and then they had tuna problems in Cabo, more about that when I get to that posting.

Anika's Love for Ballet

Anika has a love for ballet just like her older sister. Lexi and Anika will have the same teacher this Fall, Ms. Deb. Ms. Debbie is a wonderful teacher and has been teaching ballet for years. She has choreographed some wonderful recitals and performances on base.

We feel very fortunate to have Ms. Deb teaching on our base.

Lexi will miss her former teacher Ms. Kim, who is getting ready to have a baby VERY soon.

Lexi's Ballet Recital

In May, right before we left for home leave, Lexi had her ballet performance with Miss Kim's dance class. Lexi's class went with the Samuri theme. It was really fun to watch Lexi and see how far she has come with her ballet, since she started at the age of 2. Anika and Zander were in awe watching their older sister dancing on the stage. Mommy and Daddy were so proud to see Lexi on the stage. We love you so.... much Lexi.

The 20th Anniversary of my 21st Birthday!

Here are some photos from my birthday in April. We went out to dinner with our friends, Sarah, David and Elizabeth. We went to a Yakiniku Restaurant, which is hibachi grilling. You grill your won meats and veggies in the center of your table. We also had our own room and got pretty wild and crazy, just kidding, but we did do some Kung Fu shots for you:) Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes and gifties. It is so nice to have such a wonderful family and friends.
Elizabeth and Sarah acting surprised!
