Anika is getting so very independent, more so than Lexi ever was. She doesn't want Mommy to buckle her into the car seat, "I buckle in Mommy!" and she does. She wants to dress herself, pick out her own outfits, which she has come up with some good ones, the fashion police would have a field day with Anika. She wants to turn on Alexander's music and sing to him, I am not allowed to sing to him at nap time any more only she can sing, "You are my Sunshine". I was informed of this new Anika policy today. She wants to be Alexander's Mommy in some ways and she wants to do her own hair as you can see. Depending on what we are doing for the day I just let her have at it. If we are staying home or going to the family work out room in the mornings I let her do whatever she wants when it comes to her hair and clothes selection. As Mom's we have got to pick and choose our battles.
Anika has a little bit of an OCD problem and I have NO idea where that would come from. She can turn the DVD player on, turn on the TV and put her DVD in, BUT the DVD MUST be facing right side up with the picture and lettering just right. She also turns Alexander's CD on before nap time and bed time and the window to the buttons MUST be closed. Hmmmm!!!!!!
Anika talks about going to school all the time. She says, "I want to go to school with my boyfrin", which I couldn't figure out what she meant, then she said, "Jacob", our neighbor, but now I realize it is "best friend". Last night Anika said, "Mommy you my bes friend", my heart just melted. On Wednesday she was fitted for her new school uniform. They wear the cutest navy pleated mini-skirts with knee socks, white shirts and a navy blue sweater with a Madeline style hat and a plaid back pack. Most importantly (more so than the cute outfit) I love the fact that the teachings will be primarily Christian based since it is a church pre-school. April 10th will be bitter sweet for me, it is the opening ceremony for pre-school and I hope I can adjust to having Anika gone Monday-Friday from 0900-1400. Anika won't have a problem, just me, but it will be nice for Zander to have Momma all to himself. You can visit her school by clicking on the attached link to this post.
I am not ready for my baby girl to grow-up so quickly. We spend so.... much time together and I love the fact that God has given us this precious little gift and I can actually be a stay at home Mom and watch our children grow. Trust me it is not always a bed of roses and I still have no problem enjoying my Friday mornings doing my own thing while the kids are at Ms. Crystals house. Although Anika is SO.... independent she follows me around the house everywhere and wants to sit on the counter while I make lunch and dinner and watch me cook. If she could cuddle or play with Mommy ALL day long she would be a happy camper. In the middle of the day she wants me to sit and watch Eloise with her and I reply, "Anika I have chores to do I can't right now." Guess what, yesterday in the afternoon, we snuggled and watched a movie, because my snuggle days are are numbered and the laundry can wait!
