Growing up in Southern California did not afford me many
opportunities to go sledding, instead I enjoyed basking on sandy
Newport Beach, oh whoa
is me:) I did go skiing a lot when I was a teenager, but rarely did we go sledding. I remember a few times sledding with my family in Lake Tahoe. Now that I am well.............. into my adulthood I love to sled. Am I afraid I am going to break a bone, absolutely, but I love the
adrenaline rush. Today as I was situated at the top of the hill I wondered if anyone has ever died from a tragic sled accident. I am sure it has happened, but would I be the first? I was thinking, "Survived by....., loving mother of 3" as I mounted the sled. The first run (see pictures) was easy enough on Lexi's sled that has hand breaks. The second and by far the most dangerous, on the farm road, heads down the road straight for out next door neighbors house and if one does not stop you will be launched over the neighbors roof into our village. If one were to actually do this and you had a red Santa suit on you could be mistaken for good
ole St. Nick himself. John actually almost did this 2 years ago sans the St. Nick apparel. Today John was the one who suggested I take the
toboggan on this venture, it does not have any breaks and I also reminded him that my Life Insurance really is not worth that much. I don't have pictures of this run, but for those of you that have been to our house, picture this. Go up the stairs to towards the fields past the playground to the top of the tough hill, point said
toboggan towards the village and just hope that your turning
capabilities are good. Otherwise you will fly either over the good doctors house or give them a surprise visit, through their roof.

Wow, that was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am writing this post so the above did not happen and here I am. Lots of fun with the family and I survived and I of course did not take the kinder on my adventure. Although John did take Lexi and they survived too.

By the way Alexander played the
part of the boy in the plastic bubble and just watched from his pod. That is of course until he got so exhausted from watching and fell asleep.

Anika eating snow and you see correctly she is not wearing gloves. You try keeping gloves on a 23 month old:) Nearly impossible.

I have to say I feel a little more comfortable on my boards but
sledding is fun, hopefully we can get some skiing in this year. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

John and Lexi
beginning their descent down death hill.

Funny post! I can TOTALLY see you flying through the air, ha ha! Don't worry about the lack of gloves...we had a hard time keeping them on Adelaide when we took her sledding as well. We found that putting them on before we put on her coat helped a bit. So we wouldn't lose them, we attached one of Jami's sock garters (sp?) to them inside her coat...ha, ha! :) I know, I know, funny that my husband actually has those and wears them, LOL!
I love all the new posts and pictures. You have really captured your family life in a beautiful way. Thanks for sharing...
