Happy New Year to our family and friends. We hope your beginning of the year was as enjoyable as ours. We had a relatively quite New Year's Eve with the exception of the huge fireworks display that our village puts on. Almost every home in the village shoots off fireworks from their balcony, it is truly amazing. We set up the web cam on the balcony and talked to our family as we set off our own fireworks and enjoyed our neighbors fireworks as well. We started off the evening talking to my Mom and Dad and Aunt EV and Uncle Phil on the web cam and then played a game of phase 10. I made a stuffed Crown Pork Roast and we had a really nice dinner, just John, Lexi and I while the babies slept. John was like a kid in a candy store with his arsenal of fireworks. We set off our fireworks and then went to bed, fairly quite, but a very nice evening. Hey, we made it to 12:00, I was impressed.
New Year's Day was spent talking a long walk, playing Sudoku and board games. It was a lot of fun just to hang out as a family and do nothing productive. Well I consider bonding as a family very productive.
A few days ago Alexander started solids and has been sleeping a little better, but still not consistently through the night and not really any sleep patterns to speak of. He is a true blessing and a smiley little man. A few weeks ago he started sitting on his own, but needs to be monitored carefully, because after a few minutes he gets tired and falls over.
Anika is funnier to watch than any sitcom on TV. She continually brings tears of laughter to our eyes with her funny gestures and words. She is a riot and a ball of energy, especially around 7:00pm. John, Lexi and I just sit on the coach and watch her go. She loves all of her Elmo's and loves to do the Chicken Dance with Chicken Dance Elmo. She flaps her little elbows up and down and spins around until she gets dizzy and falls down.
Lexi is such a great help with her brother and sister, when she is home, she has a pretty busy schedule with swimming, gymnastics, jung schar (German Christian Youth Group) and Girl Scouts.
John is searching for a job, because our tour is up in July. We have some possibilities, it just takes time for things to process. Hopefully we will know where our fate lies within the next month. I am just keeping my faith in God, he has never steered us wrong before. He has blessed our family time and time again. He may not always give us what we want, but he always has given our family what we need. I left England kicking and screaming, not really, but Germany has been so much fun and it just gets better and better. I am just afraid when is it going to end. Then I tell myself it won't, just have faith. No matter where we go we will be a family and have a home:)
My parents, John & Jody are coming out in 3 weeks and we are so... looking forward to their visit. It will be my Dad's first time meeting his one and only healthy grandson and they will be here for Anika's 2nd birthday, what a treat. We have never been lucky enough to have any family around for any of our children's birthdays. It is a real treat.
Keep in touch and we will do the same. If you go to our snapfish link we have some videos from New Year's, all the fireworks are truly amazing, take a look for yourself.
Love ,
The Waskiewicz Clan
