Mt Fuji; Different Perspectives

The photo above was taken yesterday on top of the roof parking lot from the BX. There were 2 other people taking photos. It is not always this clear, these photo ops can be few and far between. Trying to get a photo without telephone lines etc... is nearly impossible. I have a location on the flight line I am going to try next. This is the best I could get with my camera. I am wishing for a 35mm digital some day, so I can zoom in closer next time. Maybe one day:)

This photo of Fuji was taken the evening before. I dropped Lexi off at ballet drove home to get the camera and John was home from work. So I asked him to get in the car and told him we were going to see something truly amazing.

On the left hand side it looks like smoke or clouds, but it is actually snow blowing of the volcano. It was extremely windy on base so I can't imagine how windy it must have been on top of the mountain. It was windy enough on base to blow the van over a foot or two when crossing the North overrun, which is the flight line on base.

John and I would like to climb Mt. Fuji next summer. It is only available for climbing in July and August. It is on our list of things to do before we leave Japan. Physically I can do it with the exception of my knees. My knees make noises like someone is tearing sheets of paper. It never hurt until Colorado. Last August when Lexi and I went horseback riding we took a short hike up some cave and coming down my knees hurt. If the weather is nice next week we are planning to go to Mt. Mitaki and hike that. It is a good, safe hike for children and a great way to experiment with my knees. Zander will be in the baby carrier. It would not be fun to hike up Mt. Fuji for 6 hours and not be able to get down.
I hope you enjoyed the photos. My friend, Berni, could do amazing things with her camera, skill and expertise when it comes to Mt. Fuji.

Beautiful pictures - how cool is that?!! I know what you mean about knees - mine are giving me the same problem, especially my left one. Ahhh.
