13 days 'til Christmas

Another all time favorite of ours is the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. I have never been to a base that doesn't have one each year. It is so nice, because it shows such a strong sense of community support. It usually begins with a few Christmas Carols and then a speech from the base commander or wing commander. After that some of the children with deployed parents get to pull the switch and voila, let there be light. After that Santa came cruising in on the fire truck with lights and sirens on.

They held a Christmas Party afterwards in the Community Center with door prizes, crafts, snacks and hot cocoa. Yummy!!!!!!!!

My culture group had a nice party at the O-Club and the second graders sang it was too cute. We had the yawner in the group and the distracted second grader who was looking all around and forgot to sing.

Lexi's school held a Christmas Caroling extravaganza and afterwards there were crafts and snackies. The Girl Scouts had a huge Christmas Party this last Sunday with about 300 people in attendance, including Japanese Girl Scouts. Lexi went with her troop for a 4 hour party of fun, food and Christmas Celebration.

John's work party is this Saturday night with John's boss and his band playing for the entertainment. I have never heard the band play, but I hear they are very good. It should be fun.

Sunday we have church and brunch with Santa at the Club. I will be sure to get lots of pictures of the kids with Santa.

Our German Santa took a header, thanks to our precious Anika. He lost his legs so I glue gunned them back on. The picture above shows him drying.

Lastly, I love to pull out the Christmas Decos and tree ornies. Each year I open the boxes with the ornies it is like Christmas all over. You forget about all the beautiful ornaments and decorations and it is like you are seeing them for the first time. My favorites are my Aunt Diane's beautiful needlepoint ornaments that she gives us each year. She spends so... much time on each ornament and they are absolutely gorgeous.

Until tomorrow:)

Okay, I'm only going to say this one more time...WHERE ARE PICS of the INSIDE of your house? Loved all the other ones, and I have to say I've never been to a tree lighting ceremony yet, guess I'll have to put that on my to do list! :)

Dawn, I thought about the inside of the house pics the other day, but everything is not hung yet. It is a work in progress, especially with John tearing the ligaments in his ankle. I promise youe will get them:)

B- We now call him post World War II Santa, since 2 of his legs broke off. I know you guys understand my humor, but I was afraid if I put that on the actual post I might offend someone. At least here, in the comment window, it is hidden a bit. John and I chuckle about his new namer.
